Earth Does Not Move?

Earth Does Not Move In The Bible?
As any level-minded intellectual already knows, the Earth is rotating on its axis.(1)  This gives us day and night. In the religion of Christianity, it declares the Earth to be flat (click here) and is set on foundations composed of four pillars. Which is an odd statement for the author of The Bible to make. If the earth stopped spinning, then all of the land masses would be scoured clean of anything not attached to bedrock. This means rocks, topsoil, trees, buildings, your pet dog, and so on, would be swept away into the atmosphere.

“He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. You covered it with the watery depths as with a garment;
    the waters stood above the mountains. But at your rebuke the waters fled,
    at the sound of your thunder they took to flight; they flowed over the mountains,
    they went down into the valleys,    to the place you assigned for them. You set a boundary they cannot cross;
    never again will they cover the earth.” (Psalm 104:5-9)

First of all, according to NASA: An orbit is a regular, repeating path that one object in space takes around another one. Planets, comets, asteroids and other objects in the solar system orbit the sun. Most of the objects orbiting the sun move along or close to an imaginary flat surface. This imaginary surface is called the ecliptic plane.(2)  The speed of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun is 108,000 km/h, which means that our planet travels 940 million km during a single orbit. The Earth completes one orbit every 365.242199 mean solar days, a fact which goes a long way towards explaining why we need an extra calendar day every four years. (3)  If it stopped spinning completely, not even once every 365 days, you would get 1/2 year daylight and 1/2 year night-time.

Viewed from the celestial North Pole, the motion of Earth and its axial rotation appear counterclockwise. From the vantage point above the North Poles of both the Sun and Earth, Earth orbits the Sun in a counterclockwise direction.(4)  Earth’s axis is tilted 23.439281° away from the perpendicular of its orbital plane, which is responsible for producing seasonal variations on the planet’s surface with a period of one tropical year (365.24 solar days). In addition to producing variations in terms of temperature, this also results in variations in the amount of sunlight a hemisphere receives during the course of a year.  If the Earth stopped rotating, it’s magnetic field would no longer be regenerated and it would decay away to some low, residual value due to the very small component which is 'fossilized' in its iron-rich rocks. There would be no more 'northern lights' and the Van Allen radiation belts would probably vanish, as would our protection from cosmic rays and other high-energy particles. This is a significant bio-hazard.

If the Earth stopped spinning, it would then take 365 days for the Sun to move through the sky and return to the same position. Half of the Earth would be baked for half a year, while the other hemisphere was in darkness. It would get very hot on the sunny side, and very cold in the shadowed side. (5)

In Conclusion:
Earth's rotation is the rotation of the planet Earth around its own axis. The Earth rotates from the west towards east. As viewed from North Star or polestar Polaris, the Earth turns counter-clockwise. The line is an imaginary line that passes through the North and South Poles of the planet. This line is called the axis of rotationEarth rotates about this axis once each day (approximately 24 hours).

It makes complete sense as to why The Bible would assert such a bold statement. As once upon a time, the philosophical consensus was that The Earth was flat and The Bible as well, supports that argument by reasoning the earth is floating on four pillars.

“He shakes the earth from its place and makes its pillars tremble.” (Job 9:6)

The Bible declaring that the Earth does not move is indeed appalling to scientists in the field of astronomy and dreadful to the Biblical Scholars. It seems as though the lying pens of the scribes were also dull-witted and moronic.
