Day 3

Day 3

The Bible declares plants have formed on the third day. Which is in direct contradiction to the modern-day scientific discoveries. As it is irrational to assume that plants had formed before sunlight. Photosynthesis is one of the key factors that plays one of the most important roles for the plants healthy growth and vegetation. In this article, we will describe basic principles of elementary level Ecology, the history/origin of plants, the importance of plants which attribute to sustain life on this Earth by producing oxygen for the atmosphere and a chemical equation that explains the process with sunlight in order to break it down to a very simple method for the mind to comprehend.  The Biblical scriptures,  It appears from the text that the full plants, and not the seeds, germs, or roots, were created. The land sent forth grass, herb, tree, each in its fully developed form. Implying they were already fully grown.

"And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day." (Genesis 1: 10-13)

Firstly, plants have cell walls with cellulose and obtain their energy from sunlight via photosynthesis by primary chloroplasts derived from endosymbiosis with cyanobacteria. As to the origin of flora, it was not until the Ordovician Period (1), around 450 million years ago, that land plants appeared. Photosynthesis is largely responsible for producing and maintaining the oxygen content of the Earth's atmosphere, and supplies all of the organic compounds and most of the energy necessary for life on Earth. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants and other organisms use sunlight to synthesize nutrients from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a by-product. Hence the overall balanced equation is...

6CO2 + 6H2O ----------------------> C6H12O6 + 6O
                                Sunlight energy
Where: CO2 = carbon dioxide // H2O = water // Light energy is required // C6H12O6 = glucose and O2 = oxygen. (2)

For light energy to drive photosynthesis, it first must be absorbed. Several types of photosynthetic pigments are found in plants, such as Chlorophyll. (3) Chlorophyll is an extremely important biomolecule, critical in photosynthesis, which allows plants to absorb energy from light. When these pigments absorb light, some of the pigments’ electrons are elevated to a high energy level. These high-energy electrons are used to drive the reactions of photosynthesis, thus converting light energy into chemical energy.

Without enough light, a plant cannot photosynthesise very quickly, even if there is a myriad of water and carbon dioxide. Increasing the light intensity will boost the speed of photosynthesis. Farmers, for example, use paraffin lamps inside a greenhouse to increase the rate of photosynthesis because the burning paraffin produces carbon dioxide, and heat.
Plants need to take in a number of elements to stay alive. The most important are carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Plants get hydrogen and oxygen from water in the soil, and carbon and oxygen from carbon dioxide and oxygen in the atmosphere. Water and carbon dioxide are used to synthesise food during photosynthesis. Oxygen is used to release energy from food during respiration. The energy of sunlight supports almost all life on Earth by photosynthesis.

In conclusion,
The possibility of the growth of plants and vegetation without sunlight is rendered impossible, and a tragic scientific flaw in the field of Ecology as we have irrefutable evidence suggesting that one of the direct results of the growth of the plants is from sunlight. Light is the driving force behind the process of photosynthesis. Although critics resort to the importance of water and carbon dioxide, they greatly lack in insufficiency in terms of a healthy development of the plant.
