Humans Repent To God, Not The Opposite?

I Thought Humans Repent To God, Not The Opposite?

When one empirically evaluates the Hebrew and Greek scriptures without any prejudice, it becomes clear that omnipotent and omniscient god has made mistakes and even repented like a sinful human would do in their prayers to holy creator. How is it possible, that The Biblical creator of this universe inspire such irreconcilable contradictions ?

And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground anymore for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more everything living, as I have done.”  [Genesis 8:21]

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?Number 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" (Numbers 23:19)

However, the anonymous authors of The Biblical scriptures unknowingly contradicted their very selves.

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. [Exodus 32:14]

Oh no! Claiming that this is from The Old Testament and that The New Testament has replaced all that raises a serious issue. So god had just cheated the people of Israel? Denying the Old Testament is like denying the entire religion and it won’t do any favours since The Old Testament was still considered the word of god and there is no basis of Christianity without The Old Testament.

THE WORD IS THE GOD!

Those verses quoted are from the gospel of John and not those of Jesus. We don’t even know if these are in fact the words of John because the author of the Gospel of John is anonymous.
Furthermore, what we have as English bibles are mere translations of Greek- the original language of the bible (Although, Jesus did speak not Greek during his entire earthly ministry).
The Greek version of (John 1:1) is:

En arche een ho logoskai ho logos een pros ton theon kai theos een ho logos.

"The Word” is only described as being “ton theos” (divine/a god) and not as being “ho theos” (The Divine/The God).
Thus, a more accurate translation would be:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god."

It was A God not The God. A god and The God are distinct or else we would have several Gods since interestingly enough, others were called God in the Bible:
– Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are gods’? (John 10:34)
I have said, Ye (the Jews) are gods; and all of you are children of the most High” (Psalms 82:6)
“And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made you a god to Pharaoh” (Exodus 7:1)

To further shatter more of the baseless claims everyone seems to make. Even the Devil, Lucifer, has been called God in The Biblical Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 4:4 “the god of this world (the Devil) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not.”
Is this not implying there are more than 1 God in Christianity? It is hard to see how "The word." could pass these presentations without sounding pseudo-scholarly.
Therefore, John 1:1 does not really prove anything unless Christians want to also believe that all the others who were given that title are “THE GOD” too. Then, Christianity would become a polytheistic religion and not a monotheistic one.

A God does not commit any action that goes against his divine nature; becoming a man clearly contradicts his deity. The God-man argument is a paradox on its own. Jesus can’t be perfect and imperfect at the same time.

The Biblical God also changes his mind when he was stated that he does not because that would render him to be identical to the likes of a human being.

Here we read that The Biblical God is not a human that he should change his mind. As the all-knowing and all powerful mighty god would obviously be 10 steps ahead of his very own creation.

“God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind, Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and then not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19)

However, the next verses actually contradict and refute such notions regarding his deity in that he does indeed change his mind.

(Genesis 6:7) So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

(Exodus 32:14) So the LORD changed His mind about the harm which He said He would do to His people.

According to the Benson Commentary of The Bible:

"The Lord repented of the evil — Changed his sentence at the entreaty of Moses, who in this represented the Lord Christ, the great Mediator and Intercessor for all the sinful race. He was pleased not to inflict upon them that punishment which he threatened, (Exodus 32:10,) and so acted as men do when they repent and change their minds. Though he designed to punish them, yet he would not ruin them. See here the power of prayer! God suffers himself to be prevailed with by humble, believing importunity. And see the compassion of God toward poor sinners, and how ready he is to forgive! It must, however, be well observed that such expressions as this, of the Lord’s repentingmust be understood as spoken after the manner of men. For that no proper change or repentance can take place in the Divine Mind, plainly follows from the perfection of the divine knowledge, which comprehends at one view all things, past, present, and to come, and can never be surprised at their happening as they do, or change his mind on that account."

The Matthew Henry's concise commentary states the following regarding the verse:

"God says to Moses, that the Israelites had corrupted themselves. Sin is the corruption of the sinner, and it is a self-corruption; every man is tempted when he is drawn aside of his own lust. They had turned aside out of the way. Sin is a departing from the way of duty into a by-path. They soon forgot God's works. He sees what they cannot discover, nor is any wickedness of the world hid from him. We could not bear to see the thousandth part of that evil which God sees every day. God expresses the greatness of his just displeasure, after the manner of men who would have prayer of Moses could save them from ruin; thus he was a type of Christ, by whose mediation alone, God would reconcile the world to himself. Moses pleads God's glory. The glorifying God's name, as it ought to be our first petition, and it is so in the Lord's prayer, so it ought to be our great plea. And God's promises are to be our pleas in prayer; for what he has promised he is able to perform. See the power of prayer. In answer to the prayers of Moses, God showed his purpose of sparing the people, as he had before seemed determined on their destruction; which change of the outward discovery of his purpose, is called repenting of the evil."

Cambridge Bible for Schools & Collages have stated:

"Hebrew writers often express themselves ‘anthropopathically,’ i.e. attribute to God the feelings or emotions of a man. God is thus said to ‘repent,’ not because He really changes His purpose, but because He does so apparently, when, in consequence of a change in the character and conduct of men, He is obliged to make a corresponding change in the purpose towards them which He had previously announced, and adopt towards them a new attitude."

Changing the mind and regretting ones actions are definitely human attributes. Who would imagine these being associated with the mighty power of "God"? In addition, these traits again portray that the Biblical God is not all- knowing, or else he would have predicted that man would have sinned. The best tactic Christians can resort to is to blindly label The expression an anthropomorphic one out of bias whenever presented with the following accusations. None the less the verse (Exodus 32:14) is still in contradiction with (Numbers 23:19)

There is absolutely no way around these contradictions. The priests and deacons alike have created a trinity paradigm in order to distract or attempt to reconcile with all the obvious errors that lie within their scriptures.  A repenting God is violating his own deity, hence degrading him to the likes of a normal human being.

In regards to the human form of Jesus repenting. Not only is Jesus’ sacrifice not ultimate, it is not required. There are other methods for redemption. In fact, all that is needed is repentance and asking God for forgiveness. These verses will further elucidate the point:

-“ if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The verse above proves that there is absolutely no point in God ascending down in a human form in order to "save mankind."

– From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the of Heaven is near.” (Matthew 4:17)

Furthermore, Jesus separates himself form the likes of a supernatural deity. By preaching to the people that they should all repent and turn to God for the heaven is near. The following verse of Leviticus 5:12 is another indication that there are several other methods of purification to indulge in that can be expressed as a form of repentance.

“And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take a handful of it as its memorial portion and burn this on the altar, on the LORD’s food offerings; it is a sin offering” (Leviticus 5:12)

The following verses below will further provide a strong case against the atonement of Jesus from within The Biblical Scriptures itself.

Jeremiah 31:30– “But every one shall pass away for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.”

Ezekiel 18:20– “The person who sins is the one who will pass away. The child will not be punished for the parent’s sins, and the parent will not be punished for the child’s sins. Righteous people will be rewarded for their own righteous behavior, and wicked people will be punished for their own wickedness.”

The verses state that nobody else will be held responsible for the wrong-doings except the culprits who have commit it themselves. Nobody should be held victim for the actions of someone else, whether they be a parent, a sibling or a friend. The Bible states that the child will not pay for the parent's sins and the parent will not pay for the child's sins.

However, this ironically refutes the entire notion of the inherited sin and the whole purpose behind baptizing a child. The passing of Jesus itself is enough to stop the action of baptism. Yet, it is still further practiced to this day, although, it is decreasing by the thousands.

Ironically enough, the person that came to take away all of mankind's load was even baptized himself!

– Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heavens were opened. (Luke 3:21)

One must be to ask the following question, why would Jesus be baptized if he was sinless when one knows that the pure purpose behind baptism is for repentance and forgiveness? Jesus was not even pure in The Bibles standards. We read so in Job 25:4

– How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? (Job 25:4)

How could any man be right and pure before God? This is would create an impossible dilemma for the atonement of Jesus. How can a God be born under his own command?

– But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law.  (Galatians 4:4)

In conclusion :

From a rational and logical perspective, where is the justice in an innocent man having to pass away for other peoples’ sins? Justice would be when everyone is held responsible for his or her actions. Which is an ideology that does not exist in the sacred Bible.

To end this initial part of the article, one must conclude that the whole idea of Jesus having to pass away for our sins and atonement is not only illogical and unjust but is also challenged by the Bible itself.
